- care of a child under 8 (until the day before his eighth birthday)
- are covered by sickness insurance
Insurance is covered by employees, contractors or non-agricultural persons (company managers, self-employed).
According to coronavirus speciality, the period of payment of the supplementary allowance is not included in the total limit of 60 days that parents or legal guardians are entitled to care for the child until the age of 14.
In order to receive an additional care allowance, a statement must be made to your employer or payer. The model document is available on the ZUS website. On the other hand, non-agricultural persons make a statement directly to ZUS.
The statement should include information on the combined period of childcare. The benefit is paid for each day of care and is financed by the Social Insurance Fund. Allowance is due to one of the two working parents.
